Cape Town Fishing Report 20–26 Oct 2025
🎣 Jacita Outdoor Fishing Report: 20–26 October 2025
☀️ Boat Angling: Summer Vibes and Tuna Fever
Summer’s here, and the fishing is heating up around the Cape! With blue skies and 27 °C days, it’s been a week of sunscreen, smiles, and sizzling reels.
The 10 kg Offshore League saw some great Yellowfin and Longfin tuna caught near Setono and Dump — proving the fish are here and hungry.
Then the Cape Doctor came roaring in, hitting 30 knots around Cape Point, giving skippers a few forced rest days.
For Yellowtail chasers, things have been quiet along the West Coast, but the coming south-westerly winds through Sunday could turn that around. Try trolling Rapalas on the western side of Dassen Island — the water should clean up beautifully, and you might just hook that tail you’ve been waiting for.
Big cheers and tight lines to all the crews heading out for the 52nd OBSB Tuna Invitational from Hout Bay! With boats hitting the Tuna grounds Thursday to Saturday, it’s shaping up to be a cracker of an event.
🌊 Rock & Surf: Kob Weather Rolling In
A friendly reminder: Elf (Shad) and Galjoen are out of season, so handle any accidental catches with care.
The south-easterly onshore winds forecast for the next few days mean perfect Kob conditions! Try your luck along Macassar Beach or the Strand reefs — both are known to fire under these conditions.
Top baits for the week:
-
Fresh chokka strips
-
Sardine fillets
-
Live mullet for that big-bite moment
It’s shaping up to be a great weekend for Rock & Surf anglers — so grab your tackle, check those knots, and hit the water.
